I'm at it again

Well, training has officially begun. I am surprised at how fast I was able to run 2 miles after a 1 1/2 year hiatus. Only 2 miles now, but will be upping the mileage this weekend. I have plenty of running buddies and fellow trainees here to help push me along. I am looking forward to the training. At first, when I announced, out loud, that I was training for another half marathon, I thought I must be stupid...why did I do this...why am I committing myself to this again. But, my plan worked. I knew that once I told people that I was doing this...I would do it. I feel great; I am glad to be out there doing something again; meeting a big goal for myself. So, keep your prayers coming, your encouragement flowing. I am going to need it. I'll keep you posted on the training as it gets more interesting....and it does. Remember, any one can do this. http://www.rnrsa.com/

Snow drifts...YIKES!

Denver is a blast. I recommend it highly!!! We are already planning our next trip...in March...skiing. Any and all should join us.

White Water Rafting

From left to right: David and Mike-who got splashed every second, Kelly and me-who almost got knocked out of the raft several times, and then some other family from Iowa. Our leader, Polly, in the back.
The water was 38 degrees that day. Remember, it was just snow the day before. We all had on full-body wet suits (which was funny by itself; pictures of that to come), water resistant type jackets that sealed you in, so to speak, life jackets, and the great helmets you see. I couldn't get warm the rest of the day. My hands were so cold by the end of the ride, that I couldn't unbuckle my life jacket or helmet. But, we will be back to do it again.

Anniversary Trip to Denver

Mike and I, along with our friends David and Kelly, decided to celebrate our anniversaries in Denver together. David and Kelly celebrated their 11th while we rang in number 6. We had such a wonderful time. Denver is a great city. There is so much to do. You have the trendy downtown area that is loaded with shopping, restaurants, clubs, art, you name it, it is there. And then you have the mountains of course. We spent Saturday at Rocky Mountain National Park. I highly recommend the trip. Every where you look, you are surrounded by God's beautiful work. We started the trip in sunny, 75 degree weather. As we ascended the mountain, the weather quickly changed. The temperature dropped to 44 degrees, the wind picked up, and the clouds rolled in. There was snow all around us. Huge snow drifts packed the road side. The wildlife was out every where you looked. Moose and elk primarily. Loads of fun.

This is just round number one of the slides. White water rafting is up next. Stay tuned.
