Uh Oh...Stuck

All I hear, in a loud yell, is 'Uh-Oh, Nemo Stuck!" Little did I know that Will was stuck with Nemo. This kid loves tight spots. If there is the slightest 'seat' for him, he's going to plop down on it. By the way, Nemo and a new school bus are the 'toys of the day'. Yesterday it was four of his baby spoons. Can't wait to see what he grabs tomorrow.

A day at the Ranch

Our good friends, the Sparkman's, invited us and a few other families down to their family ranch this weekend. Who knew that such an oasis existed just east of Amarillo. We all had such a great time...especially all the boys.

What to do?!?!?!

Will. He is a two year old. Actually, two and a half. Wow. Anyways, he is all of the two and a half. It is funny how kids go through so many behavioral stages. He has always been an easy kid. For the most part, he is laid-back, go with the flow, not easily ruffled kid. We have never had any major meltdowns...unless you take his toy of the day away for bath time, but for the record, not too bad of a fit. We went through a hitting mommy phase at one and a half; thought that I had 'cured' him; and now, we are back to the hitting mommy. Why me? I mean, I am glad it is me and not the other kids at school, not the teachers, not his friends, but really. I am so tired of getting whacked in the head with the toy he can't carry into school with him or take into church, or must leave at the house....so on and so on. He gets spanked, put in time-out, has the toy taken away for the rest of the day, but none of it seems to faze him. Spanking is a joke. Time-out, however how isolated I can get him, is still funny, and he forgets about the toy within two minutes....he only has 800 other cars to play with. So here is my dilemma moms....what is your strategy? What has worked for you moms with the stubborn two year old, and four year old, and ten year old....etc.? I am seeking advise. Let me have it!

My Best So Far

I know you could all care less, but I am so proud of my latest Mickey Mouse pancake. This is by far the best one to date. Will enjoyed it anyways.

Blue and Yellow

It is amazing what toys Will chooses to play with for the day. Whatever the choice, he won't put it down for at least two days straight....sleeps, eats, naps, etc. with the toy of the day. This round, he chose his blue and yellow baby brushes. He found them in a drawer and has played and played with them. He calls them 'blue and yellow'. He has brushed his hair, Mike's hair, and my hair. He has used them as microphones to belt out his evangelical version of Jesus Loves Me. He has turned them into cars, trains, and planes. As you can see, he loves his 'blue and yellow'. This picture was taken right before bed...and yes, they went to bed with him, gripped tightly in his little hands.

Happy Mother's Day

Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many woman do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
Proverbs 31:28-29

The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God cannot protect you.

Sick Day

When you don't feel good, nothing is better than a tractor tent in the living room with pillows, your favorite books, and Sesame Street on the T.V.

Will has had a throat virus this weekend so ice cream, Popsicles, and snow cones have been added to the menu. None of us have complained about the extra treats.

Gram's and Grammy's, Everywhere!

Gram and Grandad-dad came in for the weekend and brought a new book Kitten's First Full Moon. Will loves it and is funny when he acts out 'lapping up the milk' like the kitten. He loves his books, and loves it even more when it is Gram and Grandad-dad reading to him.

Not sure who is having more fun with the playdoh.

Will didn't know what to do with all the attention this past weekend. With both sets of grandparents at his beck and call, he was in heaven. We all had such a good time together and are so blessed to have such wonderful family. I hope we get together again soon.

Dedication

We had Will dedicated at church today. What a privilege to be able to openly announce our commitment to raising our son in a godly home; sharing the love and grace of our Lord with him every day. I was surprisingly overwhelmed with emotion and a new sense of responsibility that used to rest on the surface, but now is deep within my heart. The responsibility to disciple to my family through my actions, my words, my many sighs of the day, my love, my singing (if you can call it that), my silly dancing, my chores.....on and on and on. I used to just think about this responsibility at night, lying in bed talking to the Lord. But now, this responsibility feels different. It feels deeper. Exciting. I pray now that this excitement will last. I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict me daily to STOP, PRAY, and REFLECT on this "new" responsibility I have as a parent. Christ is my example, my reference point when I find myself drifting and becoming lax in my parenting and discipleship. Thank you Lord for your grace, your forgiveness, your patience, your humor, your rebuking, your unconditional love. I hope to be that kind of parent, friend, stranger, every day for the rest of my life.

Bubble Mohawk

Bubbles, bubbles, everywhere!

Palo Duro Canyon

Who would have thought that in all this flat land, there would be a massive hole in the ground...full of valleys, caves, and winding riverbeds. All the grandparents were in town this weekend, so we made the short drive to Palo Duro Canyon. Very impressive! And what do you know, we actually got a decent family photo out of the trip.
