Dedication

We had Will dedicated at church today. What a privilege to be able to openly announce our commitment to raising our son in a godly home; sharing the love and grace of our Lord with him every day. I was surprisingly overwhelmed with emotion and a new sense of responsibility that used to rest on the surface, but now is deep within my heart. The responsibility to disciple to my family through my actions, my words, my many sighs of the day, my love, my singing (if you can call it that), my silly dancing, my chores.....on and on and on. I used to just think about this responsibility at night, lying in bed talking to the Lord. But now, this responsibility feels different. It feels deeper. Exciting. I pray now that this excitement will last. I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict me daily to STOP, PRAY, and REFLECT on this "new" responsibility I have as a parent. Christ is my example, my reference point when I find myself drifting and becoming lax in my parenting and discipleship. Thank you Lord for your grace, your forgiveness, your patience, your humor, your rebuking, your unconditional love. I hope to be that kind of parent, friend, stranger, every day for the rest of my life.
