Meet "Turtle"

I am not much on the pet thing now. I know Will would love a dog, and I would too for that matter, but if I am going to put that much energy, time, and money into something, it might as well be another kid. When the kids are old enough, then maybe a dog will be adopted into the family. Until then, meet 'Turtle' or 'Blue and Red'. (obviously Will's choice in names) Not sure which name is going to stick, but here he is, our first pet. Will and I will feed him, Mike gets to clean out the bowl. And there you have it...all the maintenance that is required....my kind of pet.

Take Time to be Silly

We all need to take the time to be silly with our kids. It can make a stressful day melt away. Will and I had more fun rolling in the grass and watching the clouds right before a rain storm. Mike was out mowing, so we took advantage of the nice, manicured lawn and made it our playground. He is such a silly boy. I needed a good laugh.

Best Buds

Coen and Will

Will and Noah

I am not sure how much a two year old knows about friendship, but these two boys are Will's best buds by far. He only talks about Coen and Noah. The conversation usually goes something like this, "Coen, play drums and sing on the microphone, play in water", because those are the things he and Coen do together. For Noah, "Noah, play ball, orange truck" again, the things he and Noah do together. Well, the last two weeks, we have gotten together to play with both Noah and Coen and Will is still talking about them. They play so well together, share, take turns, laugh, run, sing, play ball, etc. Lots of rowdy boy things.

Life is better

Ok, I feel like I should tell you that I am much better now...as compared to the last entry. Sorry about that. Just one of those days...you know?

Anyways....

First of all, it is 64 degrees outside. The low tonight is 54! Not your typical August day in Texas. The weather has been great this whole week; highs 70's lows 60's. Can't beat it. We hosted our first annual neighborhood party tonight. When I planned the event, it was going to be an ice cream social, but it quickly turned into cookies and coffee. We all had to go back home to gets jackets. All I could think was football. It was definitely a football kind of night....Perfect for switching the channel back and forth from Dallas Cowboy's game to Olympics.

Second, check out the great pictures to the right. My beyond talented friend Bethany took our family pictures a couple of weeks ago. This is just a taste. I will get the rest of them soon. Can't wait to share a few more with you then. She is such an amazing friend with so many talents. Check out her blog and website/store when you get a chance...she is under my friends link as Fields Family.

And third...saving the best for last....we got Will a fish today. When I asked him what its name was, he looked at it briefly and said 'Turtle'. So we have a fish named Turtle. Got to love it. And yes, we will all be a little confused for a while....until I kill the thing. I am not good with fish. Maybe we'll get a turtle next time and name it fish....we are crazy like that.

Do-Over Please!

Maybe it really is all me...maybe I am hormonal, maybe I am the bear today, but I would like to think that just maybe it really is everyone else...nonetheless, I would love to start the day over.
Just frustration....over nothing and over everything. No real story here, just taking the time to rant on the computer. If I rant out loud, no good will come from it...just more sighing and eye-rolling and the occasional smart mouth remark. Just one of those 'I need to be in a room by myself, keep my mouth shut, really should start over' kind of days. Thanks for listening.

Family Fun

We all, as a family, finally got in a short trip to Abilene to see Mike's parents this past weekend. Will and I stayed a few extra days and had a great time. The guys got in a round of golf and us girls got in our round(s) of shopping. I love to junk shop...so Jo and I spent all of Saturday morning (up by 6 and out the door by 7) garage sale shopping. I don't know how, but we found some really good stuff, and you can't beat a garage sale price. Toys, purses, furniture...great furniture, pictures, you name it, we found it and probably bought it. I think we made three trips back to the house to unload...some serious shopping. I haven't done that in a long time. We really had a great time.

Will played and played outside. He 'helped' water the trees, the toys, the cars, the sidewalk, and even Granddad-dad a few times. He rode the tractor all over the yard and through the sprinklers, he hit golf balls, he drove the toy trucks, he bounced the balls, on and on and on. He even asked a couple who were riding by on their horses if he could ride...his exact words were..."I like your horse, can I ride?" Little charmer.

I am so fortunate to have such wonderful in-laws. We always have the best time when we are together. I consider them more of my parents than Mikes....so I am blessed with two sets of wonderful, dedicated, godly, parents. What is even better is that Will gets to share the memories with me. Thanks Bob and Jo. We sure do love you.

Can you say Ice Cream?!

The point of going to grandparents is to get spoiled...mommy included. So each night one of us, if not all four of us, would eat ice cream. Will's favorite was the cone. He actually did really well, considering he HATES to make a mess....his hands must be clean at all times....a trait his daddy insisted on when he was introduced to food. Regardless, it was the perfect treat on a hot, hot day.
